๐ฎ๐ณONE NATION, ONE IDENTITY๐ฎ๐ณ
๐ซTHE YOUNG REPUBLIC๐ซ
๐ซTHE YOUNG REPUBLIC๐ซ
This year, India celebrated its 70th Republic Day. President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa was the chief guest. After gaining Independence from the British rule in 1947, India has come a long way. Its transformation into a republic nation is one of the Important steps in making the country secular, liberal, stronger and multicultural. The Constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950. Republic Day observation on January 26 is to remember and celebrate this momentous date in the history of our country.
"Indian Constitution is the longest in the world stretching to 448 articles. This vast size is to accommodate the social and political interest of all the people (groups) of the second most populous country in the world. The depth of our Constitution reflects that the Indian Constitution did not leave any stone unturned to include representation of even a remote culture residing in our country."
"The fabric of the Constitution is woven very intrinsically to accommodate and safeguard the diversity of our country. It is evident from the fact that we have accepted best practice of civilised and progressive Constitution from all over the world. For example- liberty, equality and fraternity from France and five year plan from USSR, etc."
On Republic Day, distinguished citizens of the country are awarded national awards like Kirti Chakra. This is to honour the service that they rendered to the nation.
The youth of the country has an opportunity to get inspiration from them and contribute towards the development of the nation.
However, many people rue that the day is celebrated mostly in government institutions, schools and colleges. A common man has to be informed about this historic day.
After 69 years, it is a fact most people do not have the grasp of the soul of this eventful day.
Once the event is over, it hardly leaves any mark on the memory of the people.
It is an irony that majority of the Indian population is far from the formal education. A person has to be basic literate to understand what all rights are enshrined in our Constitution is that we have 448 articles that accommodate the diversity found in our country. On the flip side of it, it is not easy to comprehend and refer it at once.
